Joined IPC: 2024

Certifications: IPTPA (International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association) Level I Certified Pickleball Teaching Instructor (2022)

Started Teaching: 2021

Started Playing: 2017

Levels: Brand New Players, Beginners and Intermediate

Ages: Seniors, Adults and Teens

Teaching Style: Fundamentals are key and that’s my focus when teaching –  stroke mechanics, court movement and positioning, a solid understanding of the game leading to effective, dynamic strategies.  I am well versed in the rules and students often hear me differentiating between rules and strategy.   I also believe in keeping the FUN  in FUNdamentals!  My lessons are typically peppered with bad jokes and wry comments - all in good fun.  I encourage  players of all levels to be encouraging - to their partners and to themselves.

Specialties: I love introducing players to the game, exposing them to the joy that is pickleball.  I also enjoy helping players with some experience gain a better understanding of the game and improve their skills.  I enjoy teaching both individual and small group lessons.  Each lesson is different: one lesson may concentrate on drilling one or two specific skills; another session might work through pickleball strategy; yet another may involve observing gameplay, with me interjecting comments, concepts and strategies between rallies.   My goal is to reach each student wherever they are in their pickleball journey, work with them to find the best path to improvement, and help them along that path.

Other Interests: I am a husband (for more than 50 years! WooHoo!), father of two, grandfather of four and great-grandfather of one.  Family is central to my life.  I also enjoy woodworking, music, gardening, traveling and games (Wordle, Sudoku, etc.). I sometimes even combine interests - such as when I built my acoustic guitar and hammered dulcimer.
